Dental practices offer many challenges both from a clinical perspective, as well as from a managerial    viewpoint.  With patients requiring an increased level of care in esthetics, implant dentistry, orthodontic  treatment and occlusal therapy, comprehensive staff training becomes a priority of effective practice  management.  Effective staff training assures that patient education begins at the initial contact and continues as an ongoing process.  As staff members understand clinical concepts, their ability to communicate effectively with patients increases exponentially. This leads to increased case acceptance as well as greater levels of job satisfaction for both the doctor and the staff.  Combining clinical expertise with the ability to explain the realities of dental insurance reimbursement helps create an increased level of predictability in the contemporary dental practice.

Course Objectives:

This program will discuss:

  • A logical and easily understood approach to the 6 types of clinical problems in dentistry
  • Designing a new patient exam that allows for a thorough clinical examination and the opportunity to understand the non-clinical aspects that will influence the treatment plan.
  • Understanding why some smiles look attractive and other smiles do not.
  • Recognizing when the TM joint may be compromised and how to evaluate if the TM joint has been structurally altered.
  • Gathering diagnostic information that is appropriate for each patient
  • Clear guidelines for treatment planning that will result in increased case acceptance
  • How to discuss insurance with patients in a simple and clear manner
  • Developing a framework for staff education that promotes clinical expertise, increased productivity and decreased workload for the dentist.
